It's finally here! Summer has arrived and us Bangs & Blush girls have our to-do list all ready to go for all of the fun things we're going to do in our beautiful city of Toronto! There's no time to waste - before we know it, the snow can return in what feels like the blink of an eye, so us Torontonian girls have gotta make this summer wildness COUNT! Here's our list of must-do fun things and activities you need to do this summer!

1. PATIO TIMEZ
Lindsay and myself love us a good cocktail hour, and when you can do it in the sun in a pretty summer dress with a pair of big shades, surrounded by Toronto babes... nothing like it. You can usually find us on the Clinton's patio, which has just had a face lift and looks absolutely beautiful and fresh! A definite thumbs up in our Patio Playbook.

2. TORONTO ISLAND
Toronto Island is a quick little escape from the city via ferry and it's always packed to the tits with people looking to get their beach on! There's tons of space for lounging, picnics, park area and BBQs; also bike lanes! Tons of people bring their boats to the marina or go sailing around the island, and there's even a nude beach (if that's your thing). No need to get on a plane for a summer experience, hop on the ferry and head to Toronto Island!

3. THE ZOO
It doesn't matter how old you are, you're never too cool to visit the zoo! Just a little drive outside of the city, the Toronto Zoo is massive so bring your sun block and comfortable shoes because a lot of walking is involved... but it's so worth it, because animals are THE FUCKING BEST. Not to mention this year is the launch of the brand new Panda Exhibit! Those cute-ass pandas! Let's go to the zooooooo!

4. PARK DRINKIN'
Nothing reads Toronto summer time like meeting your pals to drink and chill in the park! Most popular being Trinity Bellwoods Park, where you are almost always guaranteed to see someone you know! If it's a beautiful day and you've got nothing to do, grab a blanket, a snack, perhaps a bottle of Growers Cider and some cups from the convenience store and PARK IT UP.

5. FROZEN YOGURT JOINTS
Lindsay has gotten us addicted to frozen yogurt. Tons of tasty chains have opened up all over Toronto the last few years (a few can be found in the Annex along Bloor St.) and how they haven't been around before and in our lives... we just don't want to look back. Becuse the tastiness of this is incredible; fresh fruit, every nut you can imagine and tasty candy toppings for all! And it's better for you than ice cream. HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG?

6. POOLS!
There's nothing like that first dip into a pool of the year, is there? I swear I could float in a pool all damn day. Get a little work out, keep cool and show off that new bathing suit! We love to get our bathing suits from Joe Fresh, PS. And as of last weekend almost every public pool in the GTA is open! Who needs air conditioning when you can keep cool AND get a golden tan!

7. SUMMER TOYS
Walking through Walmart a few weeks ago, I stopped in my tracks when my eyes gazed upon the brand new, colorful and amazing SUMMER TOY AISLE. Everything you could ever want for having fun in the sunshine is found here; side-walk chalk, water baloons, Nerf stuff, balls, hoola-hoops and kites! OH MY! And you can pretty much find the exact same stuff but cheaper at Dollarama; veeery impressed with their summer toy aisle this year. GO HAVE SOME FUN!

8. ROAD TRIPS!
When you've got that one friend with a car, a tank of gas and no where to go - that calls for a road trip. And living in Toronto, we have tons of places to go and find adventures! Nothing like rolling down the windows, blasting your favorite tunes and getting lost in strange, small towns. Go discover your province, babies.

1956, Elvis Presley appeared on ABC-TV's 'Milton Berle Show'. During the performance, Presley abruptly halted an uptempo rendition of 'Hound Dog' with a wave of his arm and launched into a slow, grinding version accentuated with energetic, exaggerated body movements. Presley's gyrations created a storm of controversy.

Alright, it hasn't felt like summer much the last week but it's starting to warm up and so in honor of the oh-so-Canadian May 24 weekend our littlest Bangs & Blusher, Holly has pulled together a fruity concoction for your drinking, errr slurping... pleasure! DELICIOUS.

What You Need:
Approximately half a medium-sized watermelon, cut into chunks.
3 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of water
Juice from one lemon
Baking Pan (I use a 9x9 square baking pan)

What You Do:

Stir together the water and sugar in a small pot and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until all the sugar dissolves. Take off the heat and set aside to cool.

While the syrup is cooling, put the watermelon in a blender and blend until it's completely pureed. (I usually end up with about 1L of puree, so if half a watermelon isn't enough then you can add more as you go). Blend in the lemon juice. Then add the syrup half a tablespoon at a time, and blend it in, until you have your desired sweetness.

Pour the mixture into your baking pan, cover the pan with foil, and put it in the freezer. Every 45 minutes, take the pan out of the freezer and stir with a fork  (the mixture will start freezing around the edges first, so I pull the frozen bits into the middle), then re-cover and put it back in the freezer.

Eat It: When the mixture is completely frozen (or almost completely if you’re impatient), scrape it with a fork and it turns into a watermelon snowcone.

Drink It: Take the mixture out of the freezer when it is a slushy consistency, put some in a glass and mix in some soda water. Serve with a lemon or lime wedge.

Make It Dirty: Same instructions as Drink It, but less soda water, more vodka. This is a dangerously delicious cocktail.
